DHL ECOMMERCE LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE DOMESTIC DELIVERY SERVICE IN VIETNAM

DHL eCommerce has launched its nationwide domestic delivery operations in Vietnam. The firm said that the the domestic delivery network will offer a range of services “tailored” for the e-commerce sector.

DHL said the service will be “managed by hubs and depots strategically located throughout the country”.

The company will be offering next-day delivery in Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi and other primary markets.

DHL eCommerce has also begun to use electric motorbikes in its domestic delivery operations in Vietnam. The current fleet of vehicles includes a range of electric motorbikes and the company said that it will be “exploring plans to roll out more as part of its GoGreen commitment”. [Read more in EN]

SINGAPORE CASHBACK STARTUP SHOPBACK EXPANDS TO THAILAND; ITS SIXTH MARKET IN THE SE ASIA

Singapore-based cash rebate service ShopBack has announced its official expansion to Thailand.

“Online shopping in Thailand isn’t a trend. It’s part of the everyday retail culture in 2017. We’re discovering ways to connect merchants and shoppers in a way that creates added value for both parties,” said Kawin Prachanukul, Co-founder and Country Head of ShopBack Thailand, in a press statement.

Over 100 merchants in Thailand are already onboard the platform. These include online travel booking websites Expedia and Booking.com, beauty platform Sephora, e-commerce giant Lazada, as well as ride-hailing services Grab and Uber. Consumers can expect to receive up to 30 per cent in cashback when using ShopBack. [Read more in EN]

THAILAND LAUNCHES FIRST ONLINE PORTAL FOR BUSINESS EVENTS

Image Asia Events (IMAGE asia) in Thailand has launched first online portal for business events meetinthailand.com in the country.

The portal features a Wish List that allows users to save possible options as they browse, as well as an automated Request For Proposal feature that sends a detailed enquiry direct to the user’s short list of suppliers in the Wish List with a single click.

The website features business profiles of around 600 suppliers, including hotels, exhibition/convention centres, DMCs, tour operators, event organisers and restaurants, from nine areas of the country, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui. [Read more in EN]

GOVERNMENT ROLLS OUT ONLINE BUSINESS, LICENSING SYSTEM

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched the Electronic Business Permits and Licensing System (e-BPLS) software as part of its initiative to embrace electronic government and provide citizens with easy access to information.

“Taking action on the call of the President to reduce the requirements and processing time of all government transactions, the DICT has developed a cloud-based eBPLS software that allows the taxpayers to file their application for new and renewal of business permits online, enabling the LGUs [local government units] to process these applications electronically,” said DICT Secretary Rodolfo Salalima.

The department secretary said this shortens the processing time and provides up-to-date information on the status of applications to businesses. [Read more in EN]

E-COMMERCE PLATFORM SIGNATURE MARKET RAISES $351K THROUGH CROWDFUNDING

Signature Market, a Malaysia-based online platform for purchase of natural and organic products, has raised RM1,507,080 ($351,075) through an equity crowd funding campaign on pitchIN.

The campaign, which concluded in two weeks, raised funds from 161 investors. It will use the funds to expand its production facilities and move into new markets such as Singapore.

Founded by Edwin Wang, the nearly two-year-old Signature Market offers its members products at 20-50 per cent of the retail price for a yearly fee of RM200 ($46). Products available include snacks, foods to vitamins and personal care products. [Read more in EN]

MANDIRI CAPITAL INDONESIA INVESTS $2M IN PAYMENTS STARTUP CASHLEZ

Mandiri Capital Indonesia (MCI), has led a $2-million investment into payment startup Cashlez. Other investors including Gan Kapital participated in the round. The startup will use the funding for expansion, marketing, and general operational activities.

Cashlez is one the first Indonesian startups to locally develop a host of payment solutions which include a fully certified card-present payment gateway and merchant centric reporting tools.

“Through Cashlez, small and medium enterprises now have more access to digital payment solution which is more affordable and innovative,” Eddi Danusaputro, CEO of MCI, said in his press statement. [Read more in EN]

OCBC ENABLES QR CODE FUND TRANSFERS

OCBC Bank's peer-to-peer QR code payment Pay Anyone app now enables customers to send and ask for money using QR codes.

The transfers are made directly from the payer’s account to the payee’s account: Unlike with some mobile wallets, no additional steps are required to top up the wallet using a bank account, or transfer funds from a wallet to a bank account.

PayNow-registered customers, through the OCBC Pay Anyone mobile app, can now create and send personalised QR codes to other OCBC Pay Anyone users via social networking apps or email when requesting payment. Alternatively, the payer can instantly scan a QR code displayed on the payee’s phone to complete payment. The daily transfer limit for payers is $1,000. [Read more in EN]

SHOPEE OPENS ONLINE MALL FOR CONSUMERS

Shopee officially launched Shopee Mall, a dedicated in-app space for B2C sellers.

This new platform allows consumers to shop from Shopee Mall, in addition to the existing offerings available in the Shopee marketplace. The new portal provides access to thousands of products from over 200 top sellers and leading brands.

“The launch of Shopee Mall is a major move for us in establishing Shopee as an industry leader and a one-stop platform that caters to all our customers’ needs.
